Installer Spotlight: Midwest Infrastructure Coatings Delivers Big Results for a Small Town

When the City of Wheatland, Missouri, needed to take action against severe inflow and infiltration (I&I) problems, they turned to Midwest Infrastructure Coatings—an OBIC-certified installer with a service territory spanning Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, and northeast Texas—known for delivering high-quality work with precision and efficiency.

Facing aging infrastructure and limited funds, Wheatland’s leaders sought a way to repair their wastewater system faster than their budget would normally allow. Thanks to federal ARPA funding, the city was able to move forward with an aggressive plan: rehabilitating nearly their entire manhole system in one coordinated effort.

Over the course of four months in 2024, MIC lined 260 manholes—all but two in the entire city—and rehabilitated the main lift station, which measured six feet in diameter and extended 20 feet deep. In total, the project included approximately 1,100 vertical feet of manhole lining.

Utilizing the OBIC Armor Multi-Layer System that’s designed to provide structural reinforcement to deteriorating manholes, Midwest Infrastructure Coatings delivered a seamless protective system designed to stop groundwater infiltration and extend the life of Wheatland’s critical infrastructure. The work was executed with outstanding efficiency: initially with two trucks and six crew members, and later completed with one truck and a three-person team.

The impact was immediate. After project completion, city officials noted a significant reduction in lagoon fluctuation during heavy rain events—a clear sign that the investment was already paying off. An engineering firm is now conducting a formal flow study to document the full results.

For small communities like Wheatland, projects like this make a big difference. Thanks to strategic funding, dedicated city leadership, and the expert work of Midwest Infrastructure Coatings, Wheatland’s wastewater system is better protected, more efficient, and ready for the future.
